Miss California: Representative of a Higher Calling

A strong-willed woman has been targeted in this country by leftist haters and media elitists for giving voice to her beliefs.  Miss California, Carrie Prejean, is taking the slings and arrows that had been focused on Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.  Now, word has been given by Donald Trump, the Miss USA pageant owner, that Prejean can continue representing the state that voted overwhelmingly on the same ballot that Palin appeared on to retain traditional marriage.  It was a question on this topic by a gay pageant judge that made admissible the onslaught of Prejean.  Why the vitriol for her answer affirming what the California voters declared as their preferred choice in the matter?

Here’s a possible reason.  The Left is a God-less.  From their belief in the absolute of evolution to their belief in the right to destroy the unborn to their belief in global warming hysteria, the Left has no room for belief in the Almighty.  If they did, they would not have belief in these untruths.  The Bible says God is the Creator, that He forms life in the womb, and that He is in control of the elements. 

That same Bible, in Psalms 2, asks, “Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vein?  The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and his anointed, saying ‘Let us burst their bonds asunder, and cast their cords from us’”.

Those who reject God and his anointed (His Son), judge – speaking of judges – themselves unworthy of everlasting life.  That is a heavy acknowledgement.  To undue the weight of that decision, it is considered a proper strategy among these peoples to take from their presence anyone or anything that would remind them of their chosen fate.  And, so, Sarah Palin has to be, not just defeated politically, but annihilated personally.  Carrie Prejean needs to be torched and exemplified as a “boob.”

Thank God, then, that both of these women realize that they represent not only their respective States, but they represent a state above.  In Matthew 5, Jesus saw the crowds and went up a mountainside.  There, he sat and taught what is known as the Beatitudes, beginning with Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.  If one is poor in spirit, that means that he or she realizes that there is something in them that is lacking; they know that they need a savior.  This passage goes on to say Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 

The chapter concludes with this familiar passage, Love your enemies and prayer for those who persecute you.  When asked if she forgives her accuser for the vicious things he has said about her, Prejean said that she did.  She can do that because this passage refers to the struggle of good and evil in the spiritual realm.  The judge that so venomously attacked her did so out of hate for God, and not for the hatred of her. 

The words of the Sermon on the Mount are for individual believers who endure hardships for declaring their allegiance to the heavenly plan that saved them.  Nations will fight nations for land, ideology, or power, but Christians fight for the right to live by simple truths.  The weapons of this kind of warfare are not man made, but are mighty to the pulling down of strongholds in high places.  In other words, compared to their adversaries, Palin and Prejean have shown themselves to be representatives of a higher calling.
