Barack Hussein Obama’s Contribution to the Clash of Ideologies
General piece by David J. Jonsson

This is the first of a series of articles on The Clash of Ideologies and Leftist/Marxist - Islamist Alliance

An inability to understand the growth of Leftist/Marxist – Islamist Alliance supported by Liberation Theology, cultural Marxism and political Islam could spell disaster for the West resulting in a Clash of Ideologies. The events in Kenya resulting from the clash of between the opposition leader Raila Odinga a supporter of Shariah law supported by Barack Hussein Obama and President Mwai Kibaki are a Microcosm for Future Events. The recent events Kenya stand out as a watershed event signaling emerging resurgence of Islam in Africa and the beginning of the open Clash of Ideologies between the Muslims and Christians.

Similarly we see the influence of Black Liberation Theology in the U.S. elections with the support of Obama for his Mentor the Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright Pastor of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago. The U.S. Election in 2008 has become the ‘Change Election’. Will this be a change for the better or merely and election of ‘hope’ for the unknown and lead to a further Clash of Ideologies?

As I commented in my article on March 31, 2007, Global Threats Leading to the Leftist/Marxist – Islamist Takeover: ( http://www.salemthesoldier.us/jonsson_leftist-marxist_islamist_takeover.html )

“The future enemies of Europe and the United States will be a mutation of current and past foes both domestically and internationally. In confronting these forces, knowledge of their ideologies, objectives and determination will make all the difference. The domestic foes may be either sympathizers or via actual operatives. In the period following the downfall of the Soviet Union, this is the first time that favorable conditions have emerged on the side of the Leftist and Islamists around the world to challenge the hegemony of the West.”

Subsequent articles:
· The Trinity United Church of Christ and Louis Farrakhan
· The Clash of Ideologies in Africa – Kenya
· The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and The National Muslim Leaders Forum (NAMLEF)
· Establishing the Islamic Kingdom of God
· Liberation Theology in Kenya and the U.S. Elections

This Has Become the “Change” Election
The question for America, and the rest of the world, is whether this is all empty rhetoric - or whether something real is happening. But before giving Barack Hussein Obama the keys to the White House, Americans might like to know a little more about the content of his dream.

There is not a scintilla of anything to be mistaken for modesty in Barack Obama’s pitch for the White House. Stripped of rhetorical ornament, it says vote for me because I am me. Mr. Obama exults in the uniqueness of his personal story. To vote for him is to imagine a changed America. That explains why he defines the nature of the contest.

An America that chose as its commander-in-chief a 46-year-old African-American with Hussein as his middle name would be a different place. There lies his political strength; and his weakness.

Yes this is the man who is for the ‘politics of change’.

One would have thought it would be change for the ‘better’ not for supporting an individual who wishes to take over their country to create a ‘New World Order’.

Not to throw out empty rhetoric of saber rattling unless you actually mean what you say and support those that wish to hold Iran and the Islamic extremists and terrorists accountable. If that is the case Sen. Obama should have been voting for a stronger military so that the US can be prepared for an uncertain future going from bad to worse as terrorists of the Islamist kind only see Empire in their future. War is a blessing compared with national degradation.
Barack Hussein Obama is in favor of hope, unity and “change”. Obama likes to evoke Martin Luther King’s “I have a dream” speech. In the Democratic Debates of January 21, Obama emphasized the importance of character. Similarly Orange party leader Mr. Raila Odinga in Kenya spoke of peace on January 21 quoting Martin Luther King, Raila said: “I have a dream that one day the people of this county shall not be judged by their tribe but by the content of their character”.

We must all hope that, like King’s, Mr. Obama’s dream is “deeply rooted in the American dream.” Obama’s book The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream was inspired by a sermon by Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright Pastor of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago. The Chicago congregation has ‘non-negotiable commitment’ to the ‘mother continent’. Wright builds has philosophy of Black Liberation Theology based on the writings of the Rev. James H. Cone of the Union Theological Seminary.

The Pastor as well as the membership of Trinity United Church of Christ is committed to a 10-point Vision:

· A congregation committed to ADORATION.
· A congregation preaching SALVATION.
· A congregation actively seeking RECONCILIATION.
· A congregation with a non-negotiable COMMITMENT TO AFRICA.
· A congregation committed to BIBLICAL EDUCATION.
· A congregation committed to CULTURAL EDUCATION.
· A congregation committed to the HISTORICAL EDUCATION OF AFRICAN PEOPLE IN DIASPORA.
· A congregation committed to LIBERATION.
· A congregation committed to RESTORATION.
· A congregation working towards ECONOMIC PARITY.

It is important to understand the words in the context of Black Liberation Theology.

The Rise of Black Liberation Theology
In support of Empowerment the Trinity church publishes a magazine called the Trumpet. In their featured article in the November/December edition is an Interview With The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, leader of Nation of Islam (NoI).

Note that Farrakhan was converted to Islam by Malcolm X. “Malcom X was the Minister of the Nation of Islam up to March 1964. He left the Nation of Islam and formed the Muslim Mosque, Inc. and the Organization of Afro-American Unity. Malcom X was assassinated in 1965 while delivering a speech in New York City. Norman Butler, Thomas Johnson and Talmage Hayer were convicted of Malcom X’s murder and all three were sentenced to life in prison. The FBI investigated Malcom X to verify communist influence.” The Federal Bureau of Investigation assembled extensive files (4065 pages) on Malcolm X that are available at: http://foia.fbi.gov/foiaindex/malcolmx.htm. It takes a strong stomach to read the documents concerning the NoI and Malcolm X.

An Investigation of Black Liberation Theology
In order to understand the Black Liberation Theology and its influence on Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright Pastor of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago and Sen. Barack Hussein Obama, I refer to the excellent analysis by H. Wayne House:  An Investigation of Black Liberation Theology published in Bibliotheca Sacra, Vol. 139, No. 554 (April 82):159. Below are quotes from this paper, emphasis added.

The focal concern or center of black theology is the white oppression of blacks. Therefore the usual theological discussions about God, Christ, and salvation are basically irrelevant. Instead these points of theology have meaning for blacks only insomuch as they relate to the question of freedom from oppression of blacks in this world.

Black liberation theology shares much in common with liberation theology in general but also has its own uniqueness. As a theology of liberation, it is concerned with the political and economic aspects of salvation rather than salvation in spiritual terms. Moreover, God is viewed as being primarily for the poor over against the rich in society. However, black theologians seek to interpret liberation from a black American or black African perspective (though even blacks in the United States and Africa sense differences in their emphases). Black theology, unlike Latin American liberation thought, is concerned with racism and a historical identity.

[Jesus] was not the traditional “lamb of God” taking away the sins of the world and promising Eternal Life to those following in His footsteps. Instead, He was a “revolutionary black leader,” a member of the Zealots...[who] sought to free Israel’s black Jews from oppression and bondage, dying, not for the eternal salvation of the individual, but for the rebirth of the lost Black Nation.

Black theology envisions Jesus Christ as one who stands on the side of blacks and is one with them, over against the oppressor. Also to many blacks He is the example for revolt against the oppressive status quo. Christ as Savior is seen basically in political terms, with His intrinsic nature and spiritual activity receiving little or no attention.

Of what people is the kingdom of God composed? For God to be true to His nature, black theologian Cone says that His righteousness must be directed to the helpless and the poor. The rich, the secure, and the suburbanite cannot share in God’s righteousness because they trust in things of this world. Only the one who becomes black can have this righteousness, for reconciliation makes one black. “To be Christian is to be one of those whom God has chosen. God has chosen black people!”

In black theology, salvation is physical liberation from white oppression in this life rather than freedom from the sinful nature and acts of each individual man. This leaves little room for the personal introspection and spiritual aspects of salvation and sin present in most Christian theology. Appeal to heaven is viewed as an attempt to dissuade the blacks from the goal of real liberation of their whole persons.

The Trumpet Interview with Minister Louis Farrakhan
“Minister Farrakhan will be remembered as one of the 20th and 21st century giants of the African American religious experience,” continues Wright. “His integrity and honesty have secured him a place in history as one of the nation’s most powerful critics. His love for Africa and African American people has made him an unforgettable force, a catalyst for change and a religious leader who is sincere about his faith and his purpose.”

“Because of the Minister’s influence in the African American community, Trumpet Newsmagazine honors him this winter at its Sounds of the Shore gala with an Empowerment Award. It seemed a fitting tribute for a storied life well lived. And as our brief interview drew to a close and he thanked me for taking the time to talk to him, I could not help but think, the Minister, the man with whom I had been so casually speaking, truly epitomized greatness.” The award video is available at:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uXS_YrYp07Q

Imam W. Deen Mohammed Speaking at the Clinton Presidential Center
Imam W. Deen Mohammed is the son of the late Elijah Muhammad, who led the Nation of Islam until his death in 1975. While his father’s teachings included the belief white people are “devils,” Mohammed publicly opposed his father and after his death dissolved the organization. He established a new Muslim American Society (MAS), declared it part of the orthodox worldwide Sunni Islamic community and taught tolerance. Since then, Louis Farrakhan has re-established the Nation of Islam under its original teachings, but Mohammed said the organization is starting to shed its intolerance and align with orthodox Muslims. On August 10, 2007, (Muslim Americans Setting Example For Muslims Abroad, Leader Says - The Morning News Northwest Arkansas)- he spoke at the Clinton Presidential Center. His appearance was part of the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service fall lecture series.

“I believe that Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, and perhaps many other Muslim nations, are really studying (Muslim) life here in America to see how they can benefit from what’s our strategies over here and our embracing one another over here,”

Asked about the 2008 presidential race, Mohammed hesitantly said he would not vote for Hillary Clinton. Instead, he said he would support “anybody who looks a lot like Barack Obama.”

Muslim American Society (MAS)
DiscovertheNetworks.com describes the MUSLIM AMERICAN SOCIETY (MAS):
· Founded in 1992 for the purpose of promoting “Islam as a total way of life”
· Has stated that American foreign policy is to blame for the 9/11 attacks

Closely linked to MAS is the Muslim American Society Freedom Foundation, whose Executive Director is Mahdi Bray, a former Students for a Democratic Society activist now affiliated with International ANSWER, an anti-war front group for the Communist World Workers Party. “Our mission,” Bray has written, “is to build an integrated empowerment process for the American Muslim community.” Toward this end, Bray and MAS have been involved in a voter-registration drive and an effort to train 1,000 “activists” in the “skills necessary for effective activism.”

As of early June 2007, the Minnesota chapter of MAS featured the following anti-Semitic, pro-jihad quotes on its website, http://www.masmn.org :
· “The Holy Prophet (and through him the Muslims) has been reassured that he should not mind the enmity, the evil designs and the machinations of the Jews ...”
· “In view of the degenerate moral condition of the Jews and the Christians, the Believers have been warned not to make them their friends and confidants.”
· “If you gain victory over the men of Jews, kill them.”
· “The Hour will not be established until you fight with the Jews, and the stone behind which a Jew will be hiding will say, ‘O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, so kill him.’”
· “May Allah destroy the Jews, because they used the graves of their prophets as places of worship.”
· “A Muslim must always worship Allah and wage jihad until death in order to reach his ultimate goal … Regularly make the intention to go on jihad with the ambition to die as a martyr.”

In the article posted on January 1, 2008 on the MAS website MAS Freedom-AZ Director Deedra Abboud to Receive Martin Luther King ‘Living the Dream’ Award:

“Deedra Abboud, executive director of the Muslim American Society of Arizona Freedom Foundation, is devoted to building bridges between the Muslim community and the larger Phoenix community through education. Abboud works with the Muslim community to create opportunities for them to volunteer and interact with society at large. She has worked with at-risk public high school girls to build their self-esteem and promote social change through Girls for a Change.”

James H. Cone’s Comments on Black Liberation Theology
In an article by James H. Cone: Whose Earth Is It Anyway?, he makes the following comments:

“No threat has been more deadly and persistent for black and Indigenous peoples than the rule of white supremacy in the modern world. For over five hundred years, through the wedding of science and technology, white people have been exploiting nature and killing people of color in every nook and cranny of the planet in the name of God and democracy.”

In support of Malcolm X he comments: “Enslaved for 244 years, lynched and segregated another 100, blacks, with militant words and action, fought back in every way they could—defending their humanity against all who had the nerve to question it. Malcolm X, perhaps the most fierce and uncompromising public defender of black humanity, expressed the raw feelings of most blacks: “We declare our right on this earth. . . to be a human being, to be respected as a human being, to be given the rights of a human being in this society, on this earth, in this day, which we intend to bring into existence by any means necessary.”

“Black liberation theology is a product of a fighting spirituality derived from nearly four hundred years of black resistance”

“Like black church leaders, African American politicians also are connecting social justice issues with ecology. According to the League of Conservation Voters, the Congressional Black Caucus has “the best environmental record of any voting bloc in Congress.” “Working for clean air, clean water, and a clean planet,” declared Rep. John Lewis of Georgia, “is just as important, if not more important, than anything I have ever worked on, including civil rights.”“ [Commitment to “deep” ecology movements.]

“Black and other poor people in all racial groups receive much less than their fair share of everything good in the world and a disproportionate amount of the bad” [Economic Parity]

David J. Jonsson is the author of Clash of Ideologies —The Making of the Christian and Islamic Worlds, Xulon Press 2005. His new book: Islamic Economics and the Final Jihad: The Muslim Brotherhood to the Leftist/Marxist - Islamist Alliance (Salem Communications (May 30, 2006). He received his undergraduate and graduate degrees in physics. He worked for major corporations in the United States and Japan and with multilateral agencies that brought him to more that fifteen countries with significant or majority populations who are Muslim. These exposures provided insight into the basic tenants of Islam as a political, economic and religious system. He became proficient in Islamic law (Shariah) through contract negotiation and personal encounter.
